Trinity Greenhouse was founded in 1976 by the Sexton families (Ron & Kathy Sexton and Dan and Julie Sexton). The Sexton brothers worked in construction and also operated a successful van conversion business in California, turning VW vans into camper vans. Tired of the California sprawl and drawn to the wild north, both Sexton families moved to Alaska in the early 70's and began to carve out a life, doing all manner of work to support their young families including construction, advertising sales, managing a door & window business and various other jobs.
Eventually they started a business building sun room additions and small greenhouses. What they discovered was a community hungry for quality grown plants and so they built their first "hoop house" (still in use today as a production greenhouse!) and put out their shingle. In those days, K-Beach Road was a seldom traveled gravel road!
Their focus was to love their community and to grow the very best quality plants possible. With no formal horticultural education, the families quickly and continuously learned their craft, expanding the business steadily through the 70's and beyond. In 2005, Dan sold his part of the business to Ron and Ron and Kathy continued the tradition of excellence until selling the business in 2018.
In 2018, Darren and Jessica Henry purchased the business. Darren left a 20 year career in publishing sales, marketing and distribution to embark on a new challenge: leading an already successful and beloved greenhouse into the future with no formal horticulture training. Thanks to the support of a wonderful community, Trinity is poised to celebrate 50 years of successfully serving the Kenai and beyond, always striving to "put people and plants first!"
